Blind Summit, perhaps best knows as the creator’s of Eno’s Madame Butterfly, have started a blog to publicly document their upcoming adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984 at the BAC this winter. Because they are opening December 2 this is more of a record of their process but new posts are being created and the video content is interesting. I have no doubt this will be a wonderful visual treat and that puppetry will once again come up for debate in those circles still unconvinced of the performing object’s rightful place in mainstream adult theatre and performance.
I don’t know if I’ll get to see it but someone who does might want to review the piece for Puppeturgy as this is one of the country’s leading object-based theatre companies. Their website even offers a puppetry tip of the month. For November:
There are 4 parts to a breath: in, suspend, out, suspend.
Nice.
